Garden Wedding Planning and Tips 2016

Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden, New York (May-Nov.)

Spring is just around the corner, so all I think about are flower gardens. The one pictured above is from the NY Botanical Gardens and blooms from around May to November.  Plan early if you are looking at this famous location because hundreds of weddings are booked yearly.

Garden Wedding Benefits:

  • The obvious being that during specific months flowers are included as a beautiful backdrop.
  • Generally public gardens can be revisited in the years following the wedding.
  • Gardens are great for small intimate weddings, but can cater to larger weddings as well.
  • Are somewhat flexible in design and there are many gardens to choose from if you are in a well populated area.
  • $ Some churches/libraries have fantastic gardens for weddings and may offer a discounted price.
  • $ Extra flowers are not needed which helps with budgeting.
  • Usually gardens will allow the aisle to be lined with rose petals.  Many wedding locations do not allow this.
  • $ Generally separate locations for the ceremony and reception are not needed.
  • A relaxed atmosphere.
  • Heightened ambiance as the sun sets and candles ($ which don't have to be expensive) and lanterns bring that beautiful golden glow.
  • $ Help bridesmaids save money on their dresses by giving them color swatches and length requirements for dresses that they can look for themselves.
  • $ Lunch or Brunch is common for garden weddings.

Juliet Rose Wedding Bouquet
I have seen so many beautiful gardens in New York and California that were filled with many beautiful roses. My favorite being the Juliet Rose that I had in my wedding last November, seen in the bouquet to the left that I designed.

This bouquet inspired me to design several styles of wedding programs, menus, and invitations.  Part of the new garden rose wedding stationery line can be seen below.  The metals were hand-painted (silver, copper, and gold) and Swarovski rhinestones were added to one of them.

Is there a special type of flower that is special to you?  Please let me know, because I'm always looking for new ideas for wedding flower stationery design.  Email Jessica@citrinedesigns.com  Thank You!
