Gerbera Daisy Arch Decor

I used to design wedding flowers for several years and LOVED it!  When it comes to gerbera daisies there are so many things that can be done with them when decorating.  If they are bought fresh the heads can be taken off and tied with pipe cleaners to tie up to arches and just about anything.  They can even be strung on burlap and hung in places.  Gerbera daisies can be tied to the cute wedding lights that are strung across many backyards.

Gerbera Daisy Bridesmaid Bouquet
Gerbera daisies are absolutely stunning when they are floated in a pond or water fountain.  Just take the stems off.  Below are pictures of some wedding bouquets I designed in the past.

For bridesmaid bouquets just a few gerbera daisies are needed and tied with green florist tape, and then tied around with ribbon that is pinned.  All of the items can be found at a local craft store.

Watercolor Painting Fun ~ Pink Tree Wedding Fan Programs

Watercolor painted tree by Jessica Mark
Watercolor painting is so much fun!  The tree looks so much more realistic than just digitally drawing one.  I love how many colors can be added all at once.

The Backyard Wedding Fan Program has now been updated.  This wedding fan program can be changed to many colors.  It has been updated to royal blue, lime green, purple, pink, and natural colors (including burlap).

Would love to know what I should watercolor next.  Any ideas?  Please comment below.

A new design with the inspiration of cherry tree blossom trees is below.  I love how some gardens have trees with pink blossoms all lined up against a trail.  It's so beautiful!

Rustic Valentine's Day Themed Heart Escort Card Display

This takes about 2-3 hours!  I've been designing a lot of rustic Valentine's Day themed stationery items.  I really enjoyed putting this escort card display together.  I picked up a lot of items at Michael's Arts and Crafts and then created away!  It works really great on any type of window shutters.  This could look even more rustic with rustic looking wood.  Below are DIY instructions for this project.  First I tied three long strands of burlap string (this string had a little bit of silver metallic in it from Michael's Arts and Crafts).

Then I printed up hearts on burlap colored cardstock paper and cut them out.  This paper was great because it looks somewhat recycled.  I used red and pink clothespins to attach the heart escort cards.
These can be purchased at http://citrinedesigns.com/products/heart-escort-card

If you prefer to just cut them out yourself, there is a discounted version here: http://citrinedesigns.com/products/customized-heart-escort-cards-sheet

Or if you prefer to write and cut them out here is another link: http://citrinedesigns.com/products/blank-heart-escort-cards-sheet

After attaching the hearts I took a brown marker and marked initials on pink flags and wooden hearts and then attached them with silver ribbon and pink/white Baker's twine.

Then I added a bunch of cut-out hearts from a cardstock page from a Valentine's Day mat pad that I picked up at Michael's Arts and Crafts.  They added some glitz and glam because they had metallic backgrounds.

Then I created some hand-made burlap flowers made of natural jute ribbons.  The outer layer of petals has some silver embedded in the jute.  I loved making these, so much fun!

Lastly I designed an instructions sign and tied it with burlap string above the display.  I used one red pin to hold it up.

Spring 2016 Wedding Trends

What will be the main wedding color trends for Spring 2016? I think pale pink or pale peach will be one of them. What do you think? I look forward to designing something new today. Do you prefer to be "off trend and be a little bit different" or "on trend with what looks nice for the season"? Add "A" for off trend or "B" for on trend.

The future outlook for Spring 2016

I see periwinkle and pale peach.  Oh so lovely in the Pinterest photo below:
light blue and peach spring wedding colors 2016 trends:

I also see natural colored weddings because every year they become more popular.  What do you think of burlap and lace?  Is it still "In" or "Out"?  Creative font types and styles in wedding stationery has been increasingly popular.

I love this wedding bouquet!  (pictured below)  So colorful and makes me think Spring all the way because of the light and powerful color tones.  What would you think of a wedding based off of this bouquet?  Of course this could work absolutely perfect for Summer 2016 as well...  Would this be at a beach or garden wedding?  I think it would work for both!

Garden Wedding Planning and Tips 2016

Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden, New York (May-Nov.)

Spring is just around the corner, so all I think about are flower gardens. The one pictured above is from the NY Botanical Gardens and blooms from around May to November.  Plan early if you are looking at this famous location because hundreds of weddings are booked yearly.

Garden Wedding Benefits:

  • The obvious being that during specific months flowers are included as a beautiful backdrop.
  • Generally public gardens can be revisited in the years following the wedding.
  • Gardens are great for small intimate weddings, but can cater to larger weddings as well.
  • Are somewhat flexible in design and there are many gardens to choose from if you are in a well populated area.
  • $ Some churches/libraries have fantastic gardens for weddings and may offer a discounted price.
  • $ Extra flowers are not needed which helps with budgeting.
  • Usually gardens will allow the aisle to be lined with rose petals.  Many wedding locations do not allow this.
  • $ Generally separate locations for the ceremony and reception are not needed.
  • A relaxed atmosphere.
  • Heightened ambiance as the sun sets and candles ($ which don't have to be expensive) and lanterns bring that beautiful golden glow.
  • $ Help bridesmaids save money on their dresses by giving them color swatches and length requirements for dresses that they can look for themselves.
  • $ Lunch or Brunch is common for garden weddings.
Do you have another benefit to add?  Please send it to customerservice@citrinedesigns.com

Juliet Rose Wedding Bouquet
I have seen so many beautiful gardens in New York and California that were filled with many beautiful roses. My favorite being the Juliet Rose that I had in my wedding last November, seen in the bouquet to the left that I designed.

This bouquet inspired me to design several styles of wedding programs, menus, and invitations.  Part of the new garden rose wedding stationery line can be seen below.  The metals were hand-painted (silver, copper, and gold) and Swarovski rhinestones were added to one of them.

Is there a special type of flower that is special to you?  Please let me know, because I'm always looking for new ideas for wedding flower stationery design.  Email Jessica@citrinedesigns.com  Thank You!
